There is 7 year old girl at my daughter's school who is diabetic.  Family Camp was such a positive experience for us, it would be wonderful to see her attend camp this year, but English is not her family's first language. Would this limit her camp experience?

Dear Kathy,
Camp often has children attend that do not speak English as their first language.  Family camp is also user friendly.  The child with diabetes needs to speak enough English to alert staff if he/she is low or not feeling well. Most of the time the children are used to speaking with school personnel and communicate with our staff in the same way. We often have either Medical staff or other children in camp that help to make sure no child is "forgotten".  During family camps, Dr. Smith will meet with the family one-on-one to discuss specific needs and dietary questions. Language should not be a barrier to attending camp.
