Katie, who is from San Diego, California, asks "I heard some news about camp raising money in order to remodel camp. Can you say what the plans are, or when they will start it? What I heard sounds great and just wanted to get the information first hand before I got excited. Can't Wait. Thanks!"

Dear Katie,
You heard correctly.  D.Y.S. is in the process of raising approximately one million dollars to remodel Camp Conrad-Chinnock.  We have a committee working with an architecture firm to finalize the plans.  Our plan includes 13 new and improved camper cabins (each cabin will include a toilet and sink!), updating the infirmary, and making the kitchen even better.  The last phase will be a new building to house medical staff and retreats.

It costs $60,000 to pledge a cabin and you will be able to name it.  You can also donate $35,000 for one-half of a cabin.  Pledges are payable over five years. Nicole W., a 17 year old camper, pledged a cabin in February 1999 and has already raised almost $9,000 toward it!  We hope to have this remodel completed by the summer of 2004.  If you know anyone who might like to help us reach our goal, please contact our office at (888) 800-4010 or email Tami.

If you have a suggestion to assist with this topic, let us know and we'll try to incorporate your suggestion.
